There is a TON of great talent around the world, which adds to why I am so thankful for having my design selected from the Talenthouse design competition for ‘Current Motor’. It’s a great product to be involved with AND it’s a Michigan based company as well!

I’m pretty selective on getting involved in design contests, because the odds are generally not that great of winning and you work up front for free. On the flip side, when you try to win over a new account or client you put in time and effort creating concepts to show them how happy they could be with you doing their creative work – so, it depends on the situation.
Current Motor based in Michigan (so am I eh!), is one of those situations. I like what they’re doing, and their location within the state. They have created a high performance scooter capable of 65+ miles an hour (distance of 50 miles before re-charge). Lot’s of features, check it out for yourself > Current Motor.
The design contest has a Earth Day theme, so I created some custom made leaf brushes from photos I had taken in the fall, and layered them on in Photoshop over the 3 templates they provided for the design competition. Below are some quick images of the project- you can view my entry at this link (Talenthouse).
Here’s a design I submitted for ‘Secret 7″‘ design competition to benefit The Teenage Cancer Trust.
I based my design on the single “City Grrrl” by CSS. I kept it very minimal with some key elements that relate to the song and the event. Great cause.
“The project will culminate in around 700 uniquely pressed vinyls displayed in an art exhibition at Idea Generation Gallery in London, Shoreditch in the week leading up to Record Store Day April 2012. All Secret 7” singles will be available to purchase, but none of the buyers will know who has created the sleeve, or even which song it’s for, until they are holding it in their hands – the secret lies within.”
The poll to decide which of my illustration art is to be given away (poll on the Tim Mues Studio Facebook page) will come to a close June 30, 2011.
HOW YOU WIN:
To enter for the illustration art giveaway you can:
- Fill out the ‘contact me’ tab on my website saying you want to enter (yellow tab on the left side of webpage).
- If you use Facebook, you can just click the ‘Like’ on my page (Facebook does not allow contest entries to be based on the use of a ‘Like’ button on a page).
Either method or format will make you eligible and put your name in the hat to be a potential recipient. June 30 I’ll announce what the giveaway will be (Art Card = 1 winner, or Postcards = 4 winners). Then with the aid of my young assistants I will draw names on July 4th. Multiple names will be drawn as back-up in case a winner can’t be reached.
Watch the video and then go to the Tim Mues Studio Facebook page to take the poll! Stand up and let your voice be heard!
